Second Time FIFA World In Asia

The FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international men’s championship tournament played between the senior national teams of FIFA member countries, is set to take place for the 22nd time in 2022. Qatar will host it from November 20 until December 18, 2022. After the event in South Korea and Japan in 2002, this will be the second World World Cup wholly staged in Asia and the first World Cup to ever be contested in the Arab world.

Furthermore, the tournament is planned to be the last with a 32-team field; for the competition in the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026, the field is planned to grow to 48 teams. This World Cup will be the first to not be hosted in May, June, or July and to actually occur in the northern autumn; it’s going to be played in a shorter timeframe of roughly 29 days due to the extreme summer heat in Qatar. The event will take place from late November to mid-December. At Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, the opening match will be played between Qatar and Ecuador. The final is scheduled for December 18, 2022, which also happens to be Qatar National Day. France is the current World Cup champion.

FIFA Play Teams Match Schdule

The opening ceremony and game were moved up one day to be a standalone event. Change in keeping with the long-standing custom of home teams or reigning champions beginning matches. Senegal will play the Netherlands on November 21 at 19:00.

As host nation Qatar will now face Ecuador on Sunday, November 20, at 19:00 as part of a stand-alone event, the FIFA World Cup 2022TM will begin with an even larger celebration for both local and international fans. Following a unanimous vote by the FIFA Council Bureau today, the opening ceremony and game of this year’s tournament at Al Bayt Stadium have already been moved up one day. This has resulted in the match between Senegal as well as the Netherlands being moved from 13:00 to 19:00 on Monday, November 21. The modification guarantees the continuation of a long-standing custom that sees an opening ceremony marking the beginning of the FIFA World CupTM on the occasion of the first game involving either the hosts or the reigning champions. Following an evaluation of the competition and its operational ramifications, extensive engagement with key stakeholders, and agreement with the host nation, the decision was made.

Beginning on November 14, 2022, the release period will continue to be controlled by the Regulations just on Status & Transfer of Players, as previously established and decided. Tickets will remain valid regardless of the revised date/time, and ticket holders will get a proper notification via email that the essential matches have been rescheduled. FIFA will also work to rectify any problems brought on by this modification on a specific instance basis.
