The six confederations of FIFA organized parallel competitions. The first AFC zone match of the qualification period, involving Mongolia and Brunei, took place on June 6, 2019, and the last match, an inter-confederation play-off involving Costa Rica and New Zealand, took place on June 14, 2022. The first goal was scored by Norjmoogiin Tsedenbal of Mongolia, and Joel Campbell of Costa Rica scored the final one.

Because of their different timeframes, confederations conducted individual preliminary draws instead of the overall one that previous editions had. Since March, the certification procedure has been repeatedly delayed.

Each confederation determined the qualifying competitions’ formats. Each round may be played using one of the forms listed below: League structure, in which groups of more than two teams are created to play home and away round-robin games, or, under exceptional circumstances allowed by the FIFA Planning Committee, single round-robin games hosted by one of the competing teams or on neutral ground. Two teams compete in knockout games using a home-and-away, two-leg format, or one-leg format.

Bringing the total to 32 teams- From November 20 through December 18 in Qatar, there will be matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM. The competition will be played for the first time in the Arab globe in its 22nd edition. On April 1, 2022, the World Cup group stage draw took conducted in Doha, Qatar, to prepare for the competition. Wales, Australia, and Costa Rica filled the final three qualifying spots, bringing the total to 32 teams, in June.

A Group – Netherlands, Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal

B Group – IR, England USA, Wales, and Iran

C group – Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, Argentina, and

D Group – Australia, France, Denmark, and Tunisia

E Group – Germany, Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan

F Group -Morocco, Belgium, Canada, and Croatia

G Group – Brazilian, Serbian, Swiss, and Cameroonian

H Group – Ghana, Portugal, Uruguay, and the Republic of Korea

Schedule of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

From November 20 through December 2, there will be group play. The Round of 16 will take place from December 3–6, followed by the knockout stage. The quarterfinals will take place on December 9 and 10, and the semifinals will take place on December 13 and 14. The third-place playoff will occur on December 17, the day before the championship game. Stadium for the Qatar 2022 World Cup-Al Bayt StadiumAl Thumama Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Stadium 974, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Education City Stadium, and Al Janoub Stadium are the eight locations where the 64 matches of the tournament will be played.

When and where will the World Cup be in 2022

On Sunday, November 20, at the Al Bayt Stadium, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets underway as the hosts play Ecuador in Group A. Senegal’s match versus the Netherlands at Al Thumama Stadium was originally scheduled to start the tournament a day later, but Qatar’s match was moved up in order for them to start their own tournament in August. Having the Group B match versus Iran set for just eight days after Premier League ends on Monday, November 21, at 1 pm UK time, England will now play on the second day.

Wales’ opening match will likewise take place on Monday, November 21, having qualified via the play-offs. The 31 countries who will compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside hosts Qatar, who gained an automatic spot, were chosen through the qualifying procedure.
